I’m currently supporting a leading semiconductor technology company in their search for a Principal RTL Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on some of the most exciting developments in modern chip design, including advanced IP, next-generation SoC development and emerging Chiplet technologies that are helping shape the future of AI, High-Performance Computing and Datacentre infrastructure.
You’ll be joining one of the company’s largest and most strategically important UK engineering sites, collaborating with world-class teams across Europe, the US and Asia while working on genuinely cutting-edge silicon products.

As a Principal RTL Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the development of complex silicon solutions, advanced IP products and next-generation system architectures. Key responsibilities include:
- RTL design and development using Verilog/SystemVerilog
- Development and integration of complex SoC and subsystem designs
- Working closely with architecture teams on next-generation silicon products
- Front-end design activities including synthesis, linting and CDC analysis
- Technical leadership across design activities and project delivery
- Collaboration with verification, software and system engineering teams
- Supporting best practice design methodologies and quality standards
8+ years’ experience in RTL Design, ASIC Design, Digital IC Design or SoC Development. Strong Verilog and/or SystemVerilog RTL design experience. Experience working on complex digital ASIC or SoC projects. Knowledge of synthesis, lint and CDC methodologies. Experience within semiconductor, ASIC, FPGA or IP development environments. Strong communication and technical leadership skills. Additional experience with protocols such as PCIe, AMBA, CXL, UCIe or other high-speed interfaces would be advantageous but is not essential.
