The organisation is growing its technical team and offers structured mentorship from senior scientists and engineers.

What The Job Involves

The role centres on applying machine learning to unusual, real-world problems, often without an existing playbook to follow.

You’ll combine off-the-shelf tools with custom-built components, moving between understanding the theory behind a model and getting a working version built and tested.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing relevant technical literature and staying current with the field
  • Forming and testing new ideas or hypotheses
  • Building and training models for non-standard applications
  • Rapid, hands‑on prototyping and debugging
  • Running structured experiments
  • Interpreting and reporting on results
  • Recommending next steps or further research directions

There’s also a client‑facing element — understanding client needs and translating them into workable technical solutions.

  • Candidate profile
  • A strong degree in a quantitative or technical field (maths, physics, engineering, computer science, or similar)
  • Some evidence of research capability, from postgraduate study, personal projects, or applied experience
  • Confident Python developer, comfortable with at least one common ML framework
  • Broad exposure to different ML approaches, or a track record of picking up new areas quickly
  • A rigorous, analytical mindset with genuine curiosity about the field
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Able to work independently and within a small technical team

This is a full‑time, site‑based role.

  • What’s On Offer
  • Competitive salary with performance‑related bonus
  • Strong pension contribution
  • Private healthcare
  • Additional wellbeing and lifestyle benefits typical of a well‑funded technical employer
  • Note

UK security clearance eligibility may be required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
