Responsible for the following sites: Newcastle upon Tyne, Leicestershire, Nottingham, Newcastle under Lyme, and Walsall.
Job Purpose
Provide strategic SH&E support to the Ibstock Group and Senior Leadership Teams, aligning with the Group SH&E strategy and action plan. Lead and manage relationships with senior management to implement the SH&E road map, eliminate workplace accidents, ill health, ensure environmental compliance, and achieve the 5‑year plan.
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to the development of the Group SH&E strategy.
- Identify opportunities and lead projects to eliminate workplace accidents, ill health, and achieve environmental compliance.
- Lead SH&E projects for the continued development and improvement of the Integrated Management System.
- Ensure projects deliver expected outcomes and benefits; manage resources, timeline, and budget.
- Implement safety standards that meet health‑and‑safety regulations and industry best practice.
- Coach senior leaders on effective employee engagement and wellbeing.
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement and effective change management.
- Develop and disseminate policies, procedures, working standards, and competence training.
- Support operational management and SH&E Advisors on new initiatives.
- Review environmental incidents, accidents, and safety concerns; implement initiatives to improve performance.
- Compile and analyse accident and incident statistics; produce monthly reports.
- Embed sustainable behaviour and practices.
- Provide cover for SHE Business Partners during holiday or absences.
- Coach SH&E Coordinators and track progress on objectives.
- Deputise the Head of Function where required.
- Provide monthly performance reports to the Head of Function.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- NEBOSH Diploma, Environment Certificate
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Good understanding of the UK SH&E regulatory framework
- Experience with ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO45001 and certification bodies
- Preparation of legal documents such as SH&E policies, guidance notes, training packages, incident investigations
- Extensive experience presenting and influencing at senior level
- Extensive experience in project management, planning and risk management
- Motivating and encouraging others; decisive; able to work well under pressure and resolve conflicts.
Desirable
- Training in project management or leadership
- Training in Root Cause Analysis techniques
- Relevant degree (desired)
- IOSH membership
- Certified auditor
