Full‑time, permanent role in quarrying operations.

Responsibilities

  • Safety management of all operations within the quarry.
  • Ensure compliance with company SHEQ procedures.
  • Implement key government health and safety legislation (Quarries Regulations 1999 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Quarries) Regulations 2008) throughout the site.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation and industry developments.
  • Manage contractors both in the quarry and on the estates.
  • Plan quarrying activities.
  • Develop recipes to maximise use of extracted minerals.
  • Ensure quarry production levels are maintained safely and stock levels supported.
  • Provide information and statistics on quarry performance.
  • Manage and regulate the quarry's budget.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and handle paperwork.
  • Write development proposals and reports.
  • Build knowledge of clay technology and ceramics to support problem‑solving with clay product factories.
  • Have basic understanding of mobile plant operation and MPQC.
  • Hold a competent operator card for quarry vehicles (e. g. tractor or 4x4).

Qualifications & Training

  • Clay Quarry Managers Intermediate course enrollment onto Clay Quarries (BCC/IOM3).
  • Continuous personal development programme (CPD) submissions.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH general qualification.
  • Competent operator card for quarry vehicles (tractor or 4x4).
