What You'll Be Doing:
- Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine mould dimensions
- Plan, lay out, and construct wooden moulds and panels
- Fit and fasten wooden parts using glue, nails, dowels, and screws
- Shape, plane, shave, and sand wood surfaces using hand tools
- Operate woodworking machinery such as band saws, mitre saws, and table saws
- Finish moulds with lacquer, wax, or paint
- Maintain and repair existing moulds and patterns
- Inventory tools and materials, and order supplies as needed
- Compute dimensions, volume, and weights of moulds
- Estimate costs for mould production
- Maintain detailed mould and pattern records
