Your new company Tetra Tech, a global leader in high‑end consulting and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Associate Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team in either Birmingham or Leicester. Your new role As an Associate Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex building services projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and maintaining strong client relationships. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the mechanical or electrical design process from concept to completion
- Overseeing the production of detailed calculations, specifications, and technical drawings
- Managing project delivery, including resource planning, budgeting, and quality assurance
- Conducting site inspections and supporting construction‑stage activities
- Collaborating with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines
- Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their development
- Contributing to business development, fee proposals, and bid submissions
- Promoting sustainable design and innovation across all projects
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it)
- Proven experience delivering building services projects within a consultancy environment
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities
- Commercial awareness and experience with project cost control
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Hevacomp, IES, Dialux, Relux)
- Full UK driving licence
