My client, a large consultancy, is in need of a Telesys STP Engineer for a 6 month contract inside IR35 based in London offering 2 days per week remote but requiring 3 days per week on-site.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in:

  • Installing, configuring, and commissioning Telesys STP nodes
  • Configuring point codes, linksets, routes, and Global Title Translation (GTT)
  • Configuring and managing SS7 signalling links including A links, B links, and C links
  • Preparing MOPs and implementation artifacts for software upgrades and changes
  • Integrating STP with core network elements such as MSC, HLR, SMSC, IN, and signalling gateways
  • Supporting Legacy SS7 and interworking scenarios based on customer requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of the SS7 protocol stack: MTP Level 1/2/3, SCCP (connectionless and connection-oriented), TCAP (basic operations)
  • Handling E.164, E.212, and E.214 numbering plans
  • Implementing routing logic based on IMSI, MSISDN, and GT patterns
  • Analysing and troubleshooting signalling failures using traces and logs
  • Performing protocol-level debugging including SCCP and TCAP decoding
  • Using tools such as Wireshark/tcpdump for signalling analysis
  • Optimising routing tables and signalling load distribution
  • Performing health checks, capacity planning, and performance analysis
  • Ensuring high availability and optimal performance
