Join our team at Grant & Stone Merkko, a respected independent builder's merchant serving Oxford and Reading. With a commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, we are part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), the largest independent merchant group in the South of England. We are expanding our team at our Aldermaston Branch and are looking for a dependable Yard Operative to help us continue delivering excellent service.
The Role: As a Yard Operative, you will play a vital role in maintaining our yard and supporting daily operations. You will be responsible for handling and organising yard stocks, loading and unloading delivery vehicles, assisting customers with product inquiries, and ensuring the yard area is clean and safe. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager and requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle and maintain yard stocks efficiently
- Load and unload customer, supplier, and company delivery vehicles
- Assist customers by providing information on stock availability and product ranges
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard area in compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations within the yard
- Support other departments as needed to contribute to overall company success
Requirements:
- Strong communication skills with a customer-centric approach
- Self-motivated with a can-do attitude towards tasks
- Fork lift licence preferable
- Driving Licence
- Product knowledge
- Sales experience
- Good customer service
The Hours:
Week 1: Monday to Friday 07:00 - 16:30
Week 2: Monday to Friday 07:00 - 16:30, Saturday 08:00 - 12:00
