The Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative / HGV Class 2 HIAB Relief Driver to join our team. This is a varied position where you'll support the day-to-day running of the yard while also providing delivery cover when required. You'll play a key role in ensuring customers receive excellent service both in branch and on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Yard Duties
    • Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
    • Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles
    • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised yard
    • Assisting with stock control and goods-in procedures
    • Serving and assisting customers in the yard
    • Operating a forklift truck (training provided if required)
  • Driving Duties
    • Delivering building materials safely and efficiently
    • Operating HIAB equipment where licensed
    • Completing daily vehicle checks and paperwork
    • Ensuring deliveries are made on time
    • Providing excellent customer service at every delivery point
    • Following all transport, safety and compliance procedures

Skills & Experience Required

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
  • CPC Qualification Card and Digital Tachograph Card
  • HIAB Licence preferred (training may be available for the right candidate)
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work safely in a busy yard environment
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Good level of physical fitness for manual handling duties
  • Forklift experience desirable but not essential
  • Builders merchant experience advantageous but not essential

Hours

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm

Week 2: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
