Warehouse Operative / Delivery Van Driver

Location: Uckfield — Sussex

Hours: Full-time, permanent — Mon–Fri with Saturday cover on rota

Reports to: Branch Manager

Who we are

Sussex Plumbing Supplies is an independent merchant with the buying muscle of IBMG behind it. Our branches run on strong stock, sharp service and counter teams the trade actually trust. We look after our customers, and we look after our own — most of our managers came up through the ranks.

The role

This is a hands-on role that keeps the branch moving. You'll split your time between the warehouse and the van, making sure stock is received, picked and delivered accurately and on time. If you've got a strong work ethic and you're willing to graft, we'll give you the opportunity to build a long-term career with us.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Keep stock moving — receive, check and book in deliveries accurately.
  • Pick it right — pick, pack and prepare customer orders for collection or delivery.
  • Hit the road — deliver products safely and professionally to trade customers, sites and homes.
  • Load up smart — organise and load deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Keep records straight — complete PODs, returns and delivery paperwork accurately.
  • Keep stock honest — support stock takes and help maintain stock accuracy.
  • Run a tidy warehouse — keep standards high and the warehouse organised.
  • Look after the van — complete daily vehicle checks and keep it presentable.
  • Muck in — support the counter, yard and wider branch team when needed.
  • Stay safe and sharp — H&S and housekeeping done right, every day.

What you'll bring:

  • Warehouse, stores or delivery experience is a plus.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Reliability and graft — you turn up and get stuck in.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A friendly, professional manner with customers.
  • A team-player attitude and willingness to muck in.
  • Confidence with manual handling and physical work.

What's in it for you:

  • Competitive salary that reflects what you bring to the team.
  • Generous staff discount across every IBMG brand — kit out your own jobs for less.
  • Company pension and a proper holiday allowance that grows with service.
  • Real progression — most of our managers started in the warehouse, yard or on the road.
  • Employee Assistance Programme — confidential support whenever you need it.
  • A tight-knit branch team that has your back and a laugh while they're at it.
  • Opportunities to develop your career within IBMG.
  • A clear path to Branch Manager — this is where future leaders are made.
