The Role
We're looking for a customer-focused Counter Sales & Service Advisor to support the delivery of our Supply Chain Services (SCS) proposition.
You'll provide exceptional service to customers and operatives, ensuring quick, accurate access to materials through a range of service solutions including counter service, click & collect and SmartStore, while maintaining stock accuracy, compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Support customers with material requirements and product enquiries
✅ Process collections, orders, returns and urgent requests accurately
✅ Champion SCS solutions, including SmartStore where applicable
✅ Communicate stock availability, lead times and order updates
✅ Identify and source special or non-core product requirements
✅ Maintain accurate transaction records and audit trails
✅ Support stock checks, replenishment and service improvements
✅ Work closely with warehouse, branch and supplier teams
✅ Follow all health, safety and compliance procedures
What We're Looking For
✔ Customer service or counter sales experience within merchanting, building materials, repairs, stores or a similar environment
✔ Product knowledge of building materials, plumbing, heating or electrical products is advantageous
✔ Experience using ordering, stock control or point-of-sale systems
✔ Strong communication, administration and problem-solving skills
✔ A customer-focused approach with excellent attention to detail
