We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our team in Penzance and support the safe and efficient running of our busy branch.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that involves working outdoors, handling building materials, and helping ensure customers receive excellent service every day.
What You'll Be Doing
✔ Loading and unloading building materials, including timber and roofing products
✔ Picking, checking, and preparing customer orders accurately
✔ Assisting trade and retail customers collecting goods from the yard
✔ Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe yard environment
✔ Safely operating forklift trucks (where trained and authorised)
✔ Supporting goods-in and stock management activities
✔ Working closely with colleagues to ensure efficient branch operations
✔ Following all health and safety procedures and company policies
What We're Looking For
✅ A positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
✅ Good communication and customer service skills
✅ Previous yard, warehouse, or builders' merchant experience desirable
✅ Forklift Truck Licence preferred but not essential as training may be provided
✅ Full UK Driving Licence preferred
✅ Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment
✅ Reliable, organised, and team-oriented approach
✅ Product knowledge of building materials would be an advantage
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 12:00pm (rota basis where applicable)
