We're looking for a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our busy Oxford branch. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role involving outdoor work, building materials handling, and delivering excellent service to trade and retail customers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Loading and unloading building materials, including timber and roofing products
- Picking, checking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Assisting customers collecting goods from the yard
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Operating forklift trucks (where trained and authorised)
- Supporting goods-in and stock management activities
- Working with colleagues to ensure smooth branch operations
- Following all health and safety procedures
What We're Looking For
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Previous yard, warehouse or builders merchant experience (desirable)
- Forklift Truck Licence (preferred but not essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred)
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment
- Reliable, organised and team-focused approach
- Knowledge of building materials would be advantageous
Working Hours
Week 1: Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 16:30
Week 2: Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 16:30, Saturday: 8:00am - 12:00pm
