Roofing Gear supplies specialist roofing products across Yeovil, Dorchester, and Poole. Placing customer service at the heart of our operations, and as part of Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), we support roofers reliably and efficiently.
️We’re now looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our team at our Dorchester branch.
The Role
We are looking for a Yard Operative to support the safety and efficient running of our branch.
This is a hands‑on, outdoor role involving heavy roofing materials and direct customer interaction.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Load and unload roofing materials and timber
- Pick and prepare customer orders
- Assist customers collecting goods from the yard
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard area
- Operate forklift trucks (if trained)
- Follow all health and safety procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Positive, can‑do attitude
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
- Full UK driving licence
- Yard or builders’ merchant experience (desirable)
- Sales or product knowledge is a bonus
Working Hours
- Week 1: Monday – Friday 07:00–16:30
- Week 2: Monday - Friday 07:00 - 16:30 Every other Saturday 07:00-11:00
