The Company DW Burns is a respected independent builder's merchant serving the Southeast. With a commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, we are part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), the largest independent merchant group in the South of England. We are expanding our team at our Lansbury Branch and are looking for a dependable Assistant Showroom Manager to help us continue delivering excellent service to our trade and retail customers.
The Role: DW Burns is a well-established supplier of bathroom products, known for quality, service, and strong customer relationships. We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Assistant Showroom Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Knaphill showroom. This role is ideal for someone with showroom or trade counter experience who is ready to take the next step into management, combining hands-on sales with leadership and operational responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service to retail and trade customers
- Assist customers with bathroom designs, product selection, and quotations
- Drive showroom sales and help achieve branch targets
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, installers, and suppliers
- Handle enquiries, orders, and aftersales support professionally
Management Support
- Support the Branch Manager in the daily operation of the showroom
- Supervise and motivate showroom staff in the manager's absence
- Assist with staff training, development, and performance standards
- Ensure high standards of showroom presentation and merchandising
Operations & Administration
- Process orders accurately and efficiently
- Manage stock levels, deliveries, and supplier coordination
- Handle basic cashing-up, invoicing, and administrative duties
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, health & safety, and security
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in a bathroom showroom, interiors, or similar retail/trade environment
- Strong customer service and sales skills
- Confident communicator with a professional, friendly manner
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Leadership potential with a proactive, problem-solving attitude
- Good IT skills (quoting systems and Microsoft applications)
The Hours
- Monday, Tuesday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Wednesday: Off
- Thursday, Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
