Your Role And Responsibilities
We are looking for a Migration Consultant with experience of application development on VME and modern platforms such as Linux or Windows. This role involves testing and problem determination with issues found from the migration of VME applications from COBOL and Application Master to Micro Focus COBOL. In addition, the role requires an understanding of IDMSX, TPMS and Data Dictionary (DDS). Experience with C# and C++ would also be a benefit, but not essential.
Ideally the candidate will have experience of working in application and/or data migration projects and can demonstrate a track record of successful project delivery. The role is customer facing and the candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The role involves co-ordinating internal technical activity as well as working with customers to ensure project success.
The successful candidate requires strong programming skills and will have experience of successfully delivering legacy migration projects on time and within budget.
You Will
- Assist with the testing and problem determination in issues found in the converted COBOL and Application Master applications
- Resolve issues and / or make recommendations on corrections needed
- Document issues / resolution as required
- Make modifications to COBOL code as assigned
- Deliver and promote quality, excellence and continuous service improvement
- Keep abreast of new features and functions made available within the IBM ModernSystems products
Preferred Education
Bachelor\’s Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- 10+ years in VME Application Master, COBOL, Data Dictionary (DDS), IDMSX and TPMS
- 10+ years Micro Focus COBOL and Visual Studio
- Experience in C# and C++ would be an advantage
- Experience in scripting languages such as PowerShell also an advantage
- Windows and Linux development and deployment experience

- Ability and desire to learn and deploy new skills
- Strong communication skills, written and spoken
- Well presented and good interpersonal skills
- Comfortable in customer facing role
