Your Role at IBM

Our Digital And Technology Solutions Degree Apprentices work in a variety of sales and technical sales roles across a range of technologies. These technologies include:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) including large language models, AI assistants and agentic AI (autonomous decision‑making agents which complete tasks for the user using automation)
  • Data and AI governance
  • Databases, data lakes and data warehouses
  • Business analytics – planning and visual tools
  • Business automation
  • Cloud

The apprentice role could involve working with technical sellers, clients, and partners to carry out demos, proofs of concept, pilots, bid responses, client briefings, technical event and campaign management, prospecting for new opportunities and much more.

Your Apprenticeship – Digital and Technology Solutions Apprenticeship

As a Digital and Technology Solutions Degree apprentice, you will develop a broad range of technical and business skills, including information systems, systems development, data, business organisations, project management and computer & network infrastructure. You will also take modules to develop your skills in a technical specialism. There is an opportunity to experience university life and meet apprentices from other organisations during days at university and interactive learning sessions. On an IBM Apprenticeship programme, you will be working in an innovative, creative and exciting working environment. Our apprentices span across different business units and there are many opportunities for you to get involved in both inside and outside of your role. We encourage all our early professionals to take the opportunity to participate in networking, mentoring, learning and give back. You will also have two managers: a task manager who works with you on your role and an early professional manager who helps you get the most out of your apprenticeship and provides support along the way.

We are expecting to have Technology Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice roles available for the following specialisms for roles in 2026: IT Consultant, Software Engineer. Please note the decision on specialism is made by IBM reflecting business need. For additional information regarding specialisms please visit the Skills England website.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

All our apprenticeships are office based (if not on a client site) for a minimum of 3 days a week; these are NOT remote roles. You need to live within commutable distance to one of our locations. Expected locations: Manchester, London. You will need to be mobile as all our apprenticeship roles will be client‑focused, and you may find yourself working at client sites or other IBM locations which could require extensive travel and staying away from home during the week. Valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England. You must be authorised to work in the UK without sponsorship. Maths & English GCSE or equivalent (level 4 or above). We may request a certificate of equivalency which is your responsibility to provide. You must have already achieved or be predicted a minimum of 120 UCAS points, equivalent to BBB at A level. If your grades are predicted, you will need to provide us with evidence of your grades on results day. You cannot have already started or completed an apprenticeship or university course in a similar area. You must have already completed sixth‑form level education. You must have a keen interest and passion in technology. We’re seeking talented individuals who are curious about tech. Some roles require you to have studied specific STEM subjects at sixth‑form level. We also welcome applications from candidates who have not studied technology, computer science or STEM subjects at sixth‑form level.

Start Dates for 2026

We are looking for apprentices who will start on 7th September 2026, followed by an IBM and university induction – please note we cannot make any exceptions to this start date. We recommend you apply as soon as possible as our apprenticeship opportunities are very popular.
