Your role and responsibilities:
We’re looking for a DevOps Platform Engineer to help build, automate, and operate modern cloud-native and hybrid platforms across enterprise environments. Working across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud and Red Hat technologies, you’ll design and deliver high-performance, containerised platforms using Kubernetes, Docker/CRI-O, and Infrastructure as Code. This is a hands-on consulting role, where you’ll work closely with developers, architects, security and SRE teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly reliable platforms for modern applications in complex environments. We’re hiring across mid-level through to senior/principal engineers, with responsibilities scaling based on experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Build, automate, and run container platforms using Kubernetes, Docker, and CRI-O.
- Deploy and maintain infrastructure across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and cloud-native tooling.
- Implement HA/DR patterns, load balancing, and hybrid networking solutions.
- Integrate monitoring, SLOs, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
- Administer OpenShift clusters and support container platform migrations.
- Collaborate with architects and developers to improve platform performance, automation, and security.
- At senior levels, lead technical decisions, guide DevOps practices, and mentor engineers.

Required technical and professional expertise:
You’ll bring hands-on experience in some of the areas below, along with a proactive mindset to learn and develop across the rest:
- Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes cluster operations (deployments, scaling, security, networking, upgrades), Docker and/or CRI-O runtime experience, OpenShift administration and migration support, Experience with at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP), with exposure to others, Hybrid/on-prem environments and legacy modernisation, VPC/VNet design, IAM and identity management, hybrid connectivity.
- Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Terraform and/or Ansible for platform automation, CloudFormation, ARM, Bicep or other cloud-native IaC tooling.
- Observability & Reliability: Monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor), HA/DR patterns, load balancing, and resilience engineering, Understanding of SRE principles and/or GitOps practices.
- Security & Compliance: Platform security, configuration hardening, secrets management, and identity tooling, Experience integrating security into pipelines (shift-left / DevSecOps practices).
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred technical and professional experience:
- A broad foundation across multiple domains such as systems administration, networking, security, or databases.
- Experience supporting production platforms (on-call, incident response, root-cause analysis).
- Hands-on automation of security or compliance workflows (e.g. vulnerability remediation, scanning, policy-as-code).
- Experience bridging traditional infrastructure with cloud-native and container platforms.
- Comfortable collaborating across architecture, development, operations, and security teams.
