This is a unique opportunity at IBM. We are looking for 2 Junior Management Consultant apprentices to join our Healthcare Life Science team. IBM’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Consulting team helps pharma, biotech and healthcare organisations transform care leveraging innovations across digital transformation, data and AI. We partner with clients to design and deliver solutions to support the development of new diagnostics and treatments, enhance patient and caregiver experience, streamline operations and support safer, more efficient outcomes. We are looking for team members with a passion for the industry who are keen to learn quickly and be part of a team making a difference across health research, the NHS and biopharma.
You will be working 4 days a week at IBM on a client-facing project and one day a week studying for your Junior Management Consultant apprenticeship on IBM’s OFSTED-rated apprenticeship programme.
Your Role
- Project Management Support: Assist management consultants in the delivery of projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Client Engagement: Build relationships with clients and understand their business needs and challenges.
- Data Analysis: Analyse and interpret complex data to identify trends and insights that inform business decisions.
- Solution Development: Develop and implement solutions to client problems, including process improvements and technology implementations.
- Communication: Communicate complex ideas and recommendations to clients and stakeholders through effective written and verbal communication.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver projects and meet client needs.
- Learning and Development: Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as artificial intelligence, consulting methodologies, and technology trends.
- Commercial Awareness: Develop an understanding of commercial principles and practices.
Your apprenticeship: Junior Management Consultant apprenticeship
IBM is an OFSTED Outstanding Employer provider. You will complete IBM’s Junior Management Consultant apprenticeship programme, involving in-person and online training courses, Action Learning Sets, digital badges and the support of your own dedicated early professional manager. Your apprenticeship will provide you with skills and knowledge in the following areas: business environment, management consultancy, finance, project management, communication, team working, business analysis, client relationship building, personal management, IT technical capabilities, and report writing.
On an IBM Apprenticeship programme, you will be working in an innovative, creative and exciting working environment. Our Apprentices span across different business units with opportunities to get involved inside and outside of your role. We encourage all our early professionals to participate in networking, mentoring, learning and giving back. You will have two managers: a task manager who works with you on your role and an early professional manager who helps you get the most out of your Apprenticeship and provides support along the way.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
Specific requirements for this role include a qualification or proven relevant experience in Healthcare Life Science. This could be a medical or biomedical sciences or relevant biology degree, experience of hospitals, NHS organisations, pharma, biotech, medical devices, clinical trials or public health (including work placements, volunteering or academic projects), academic or practical research in healthcare, biology, pharmaceuticals, data science, policy or user experience, and experience of digital healthcare.
Requirements For An IBM Apprenticeship
All apprenticeships are office-based (if not on a client site) a minimum of 3 days a week; these are NOT remote roles. You need to live within commutable distance to one of IBM locations: London, Hursley (near Winchester), Manchester. You will need to be mobile as all apprenticeship roles will be client-focused and may require travel and staying away from home during the week. Valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England is required. Roles require eligibility for Security Clearance. You must be authorised to work in the UK without sponsorship. Maths & English GCSE or equivalent (level 4 or above) is necessary. Certificates of equivalency may be requested. Completed Further or Higher Education before starting at IBM. Applicants with sixth form education or degree studies will be considered. You cannot have already started or completed an apprenticeship or university course in a similar area. You must have a keen interest and passion for technology. We’re seeking talented individuals who are curious about tech. We welcome applications from candidates who have not studied technology, computer science or STEM subjects at sixth form level.
Start dates for 2026
We are looking for Apprentices who will start on 22nd June 2026 with a 2-week induction. Please note we cannot make any exceptions to these start dates.
