Your role and responsibilities
At IBM Consulting and Promontory, we help financial institutions navigate regulatory expectations, manage risk, and strengthen how they operate. As a graduate, you'll join a specialist team working at the intersection of strategy, regulation, and financial crime, supporting clients as they respond to evolving rules, emerging risks, and industry transformation.
The Role
As an Associate Consultant in the Promontory practice, you'll support clients in understanding regulatory requirements, analysing risk, and improving their governance and compliance frameworks. You'll work with teams advising banks, insurers, and other regulated firms on topics such as financial crime, conduct, regulation, data privacy & security and operational resilience.
What You'll Do
- Support client projects through research, analysis, and structured problem solving
- Analyse regulatory requirements from the FCA, PRA, or global regulators
- Review client policies, procedures, and governance documents
- Prepare clear, concise presentations, reports, and strategic recommendations
- Track regulatory developments and summarise key impacts for clients
- Assist with project planning, coordination, and delivery
- Participate in client workshops and internal strategy discussions
- Support business development activities where needed
- Work closely with experienced consultants, risk specialists, and subject matter experts

- Must be a UK citizen (due to financial sector clearance requirements)
- London base location
- Willingness to travel as required
- A final year student or recent graduate in Law, Economics, Finance, Politics, Business, International Relations, or any analytical or research focused degree
- Strong interest in financial services regulation, compliance, governance or risk management
- Analytical and detail oriented, able to handle complex information and draw clear conclusions
- Excellent written communicator, with the ability to produce concise, well-structured analysis
- Confident collaborating with teams and engaging with clients
- Curious, proactive, and motivated by understanding how regulation shapes real-world business decisions
- Comfortable researching, synthesising information, and forming evidence-based recommendations using common desktop systems and AI-enabled tools
