In this role, you’ll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centres (Delivery Centres), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centres offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities:
IBM is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Developer to join our team, with a focus on serving the public sector. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in full-stack development, with a strong preference for those well-versed in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
As a Lead Developer, you will guide IBM into the future by translating system requirements into the design and development of customised systems in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of developers in designing, coding, testing, and implementing new software applications or significant enhancements to existing ones.
- Oversee the entire software development life cycle, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope and objectives, and translate them into technical requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Leverage your AWS expertise to design, deploy, manage, and scale applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrate leadership by driving best practices and enhancing development processes.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Lead Developer or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years in software development.
- In-depth knowledge of full-stack development, including front-end and back-end technologies.
- Extensive experience working in the public sector, understanding its unique challenges and requirements.
- Proficiency with AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and more. Experience with serverless architectures is a plus.
- Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to motivate and coach team members effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think algorithmically.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. An advanced degree would be advantageous.
Desirable Certifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional level.
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate or Professional level.
- Any relevant IBM certifications would be beneficial.
