Your role and responsibilities:
IBM Consulting is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Application Operations team supporting a government client and project. This position requires hands-on expertise in managing and optimising Oracle database systems, ensuring performance, security, and reliability in a production environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in Oracle DBA practices and an appreciation of multiple related technologies, with the potential advantage of experience in Oracle Apex.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, manage, and monitor Oracle databases for optimal performance and availability.
- Execute routine database maintenance, backup, and recovery processes.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with client requirements.
- Perform tuning and optimisation of SQL queries and database configurations.
- Collaborate with application developers and other technical teams to support database-related requirements.
- Support deployments and upgrades in coordination with the Application Operations team.
- Maintain documentation for database configurations and operational procedures.
- Participate in incident and problem management processes for database-related issues.
Required technical and professional expertise:
- Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in an enterprise or government setting.
- Proficient in Oracle database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading.
- Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery methodologies.
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work within a structured ITIL-aligned support environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- SQL Development, Java, E business Suite experience, CI/CD practices.
