Introduction
The purpose of this role is to lead business transformation programmes in the Digital Engineering space within IBM Consulting. The Senior Project Manager – Digital Engineering will run team(s) of multi-disciplinary, cross-vendor individuals across multiple geographies to deliver some of our client’s most complex projects. You will be the face of IBM to the client for your project(s). You will bring a wealth of experience and expertise in the Digital Engineering space to your engagements. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex integrations, business process transformations and business change initiatives. You will manage multi-million-pound budgets to execute delivery across multiple third parties, such as client, IBM, vendor and contractor resources. You should be able to interpret a client vision, translate into delivery priorities and be able to look ahead to anticipate issues and risks and then propose mitigation strategies.
Working alongside our talented and widely experienced consultants, you’ll have the opportunity to lead innovative solutions which overcome complex business challenges. On a daily basis, you’ll transform Digital Engineering’s performance and deliver real business improvements for our clients. Whether it’s strategy and transformation or implementation programmes, your advice will help our clients to operate more efficiently and effectively. What’s more, you’ll be pivotal in helping to drive forward some of the most exciting products currently in development in the UK.
Your role and responsibilities
- Initiate, setup and lead the planning, management and delivery of complex Digital Engineering projects across workstreams.
- Build & manage trusted relationships at senior levels with our clients, stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners.
- Ensure projects adhere to IBM’s and/or client’s governance frameworks and controls and suggest improvements based on best practise.
- Manage project financials and commercials ensuring compliance.
- Work with teams across all workstreams and project lifecycles to define the integrated delivery schedule and track and report progress against this schedule.
- Identify, quantify and raise risks (e.g. financial, delivery, people) in a timely fashion and actively engage with impacted clients, vendors, delivery partners to mitigated/avoided these risks.
- Represent IBM at Steering Boards, reporting on the status of our Digital Engineering projects.
- Identify opportunities to add further value and engage with the IBM practice to bring subject matter expertise to realise the opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate complexity, simplify end-to-end workflows, automate manual tasks and deploy AI across operations.
Required technical and professional expertise
The ideal candidate will be employed in a major engineering organisation or in a leading consulting or digital technology firm. Our preference is that they will have experience of operating in similar senior roles within the sector.
- In depth knowledge of the Product Lifecycle Management and Digital Engineering domain.
- Strong consulting skills gained within a professional consulting group or working in industry.
- Experience of leading large complex projects across lifecycle stages.
- A high level of personal belief and passion.
- Be able to be ‘face’ of IBM to senior client stakeholders for a significant portfolio of work.
- Proven ability to build new and maintain existing professional networks.
- Able to quickly build and grow client relationships so IBM is viewed as a preferred provider of consulting services and grow ‘footprint’.
- Establish and maintain skills and personal eminence in the market.
- Continually develop expertise and knowledge of client issues based on accumulated experience.
- Strong project management skills demonstrated in the Digital Engineering space.
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Strong consulting skills gained within a professional consulting group or working in industry.
- Engineering or Industrial background.
- Digital Engineering skills and experience. Ideally familiarity in delivering Siemens, Dassault and other PLM vendor products.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Project Management Principals and methods such as PRINCE2 and/or Agile.
- Able to tailor communications to be impactful at senior levels of business
- Building strong and trusted client relationships to showcase IBM expertise/capabilities and grow the IBM ‘footprint’.
- Strong IT Skills are required; Microsoft suite (Project, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
