Job Title: Principal Engineer – Energy Conversion

Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite) – Offices in Chester, Guildford, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham

Salary: Up to £90,000 + comprehensive benefits

We are partnering with a leading global consultancy in the energy, water, and infrastructure sectors to find a Principal Engineer – Energy Conversion to join their high‑performing Energy Solutions team.

The Role

• Leading high‑impact projects across energy conversion technologies, from conventional thermal power to next‑generation renewable and bioenergy systems.
• Driving design, performance modelling, and feasibility analysis for energy generation and storage systems.
• Providing technical leadership on major deliverables, mentoring junior engineers, and engaging with clients at a senior level.
• Conducting technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and system integration reviews for utility‑scale and industrial clients.
• Collaborating across multi‑disciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.
• Supporting business development through proposals, client presentations, and technical strategy.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years’ experience in energy generation and conversion projects (power plants, renewables, waste‑to‑energy, CHP, hydrogen, biofuels).
• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, energy systems modelling, and process engineering.
• Proven experience with performance analysis and simulation tools (Aspen Plus, EBSILON, Thermoflex, or similar).
• Deep understanding of energy conversion cycles (Rankine, Brayton, combined cycle, ORC, etc.).
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with a relevant institution (IMechE, IChemE).
• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Energy Engineering (or related discipline).
