What you'll be doing

As a Team Member (Compliance) within the SPM Licence Programmes, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our electricity distribution network. Working as part of a dedicated compliance team, you’ll inspect, test, and maintain a wide range of safety-critical equipment—ensuring full compliance with regulatory and licence obligations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspection, calibration, and PAT testing of electrical instruments
  • Inspection and repair of test prods, earthing devices, cable spikers, HV earths, ladders, and ancillary equipment
  • Inspection of live line equipment, including fuse rods
  • Supporting external insurance inspectors with biannual equipment inspections
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and managing quarantine/inspection areas across depot locations
  • Assisting with depot inspections across Energy Networks South (including overnight stays)
  • Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and company policies
  • Delivering business plan outputs aligned with financial, regulatory, and operational objectives
  • Promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Analysing performance data and feedback to drive improvements
  • Providing excellent customer service and supporting team goals through collaboration and coaching
  • Making informed, balanced decisions and escalating when necessary

What You’ll Bring

Preferred requirements:

  • City & Guilds Level II or equivalent electrical qualification
  • Completed Craft Apprenticeship or equivalent training
  • Full, valid UK driving licence

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and safety legislation
  • Familiarity with network development practices and business systems
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment and interpret results
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to devise practical solutions
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
