The Quality and Environmental Team is part of SPT Networks and provides business wide leadership, strategy and direction integrating business and group Quality/Environmental and Safety policies, programs and processes in support of operational excellence, legal compliance and safe working practices.

This includes delivering Systems support and advice to over 500 employees and agency professionals within SPT and to 800 -1000 contractors, based at our project construction sites.

The Lead Quality Advisor is a supporting role within the SP Transmission business, assisting on delivery of project/product compliance and providing specialist advice within major engineering and construction projects throughout the full project lifecycle from development into construction and operation to decommissioning.

Assigning the team of Quality Advisors/Engineers workload and ensuring effective resources are available to deliver the projects.

Providing consistent support for the infrastructure projects and reviewing trends and developing appropriate corrective actions.

Supporting the Environmental and Quality Manager in the delivery of the departmental objectives promoting best practice, ensuring compliance to contracts and standards are met as well as maintaining and improving the company Quality Management System.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Peer review the work of the seniors advisors/advisors to ensure a consistent service is delivered to the projects
  • Develop KPIs and Objectives for the individuals that align with the wider team and business objectives
  • Review and report on area performance monthly
  • Develop and conduct training for the team and wider business on Quality Topics as and when required
  • Advise Management of trends / latest initiatives with regards industry best practice in terms of Quality
  • Prepare Quality Dept information to meet monthly, annual and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Attend and manage the successful completion of internal, where required, and all external audits.
  • Investigate and resolve Non Conformities, within your area.
  • Create and coordinate dissemination of applicable quality Communications agreed with the wider business
  • Work closely with all section heads/team leaders to ensure that the quality dept is providing the best service and value to the projects
  • Work closely with other areas of SPEN to ensure quality matters are addressed
  • Focus on efficiencies and minimizing variations on projects
  • Ensure the project teams are trained in the true cost of poor quality
  • Assess the resources in the team to ensure the correct level of support can be provided to projects
  • What you'll bring
  • Proven experience of completing similar roles on major energy projects preferably in the utility transmission sector
  • Significant experience of environmental management systems, environmental auditing, dealing with the environmental regulators, ideally within a commercially focused utility, service or construction business
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in an HSEQ or related discipline
  • Pro-active and diligent approach
  • In-depth knowledge of the current ISO 9001 Standard.
  • Current valid driving licence.
  • ISO 14001 lead auditor qualifications desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of current and developing environmental legislation is essential
  • Strong influencing and consulting/communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative, creative thinking and problem solving - dealing with conflicting requirements
  • Experience of collaboration with multiple parties
