The Senior Performance Accountant is key to the delivery of critical reporting processes, including annual budget, quarterly forecast and monthly reported, for OPEX and CAPEX in the UK Renewables Business. The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive analysis and insightful commentary to support the Performance Manager in submissions to the SPR Leadership Team, SP and IBR Control. Partnering with the business, you will monitor and challenge financial performance, ensuring robust results with sound underlying assumptions. Building strong relationships across SPR Business, and wider SPR Control teams you will ensure implementation of efficient reporting processes whilst maintaining consistency and meeting SP and IBR Control requirements. A key element of the role is driving financial governance, by ensuring budget compliance through robust availability control management.
What you'll be doing:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly reported positions.
- Ensure accurate loading of budgets and forecasts into SAP, maintaining data integrity and compliance.
- Monitor and challenge OPEX and CAPEX performance, providing in-depth analysis and insights to give stakeholders a clear view of business performance through monthly reviews.
- Take ownership of complex P&L and Capex elements.
- Lead the preparation of PRM packs and supporting analysis, delivering clear financial commentary to inform stakeholder understanding.
- Prepare executive and board report inputs to support senior leadership communication.
- Drive continuous improvement of reporting processes, introducing automation to streamline processes.
- Coordinate Flash Reporting process for review by the Performance Manager and submission to Group Control.
- Manage OPEX and CAPEX reallocations in SAP as required by the business, maintaining compliance and data integrity.
- Perform semi-annual internal reviews of availability control to validate accuracy and adherence to governance standards.
- Review weekly, Budget and forecast cash flows to ensure the requirements of Treasury and Group Control are met, providing commentary as required.
- Perform consistency and reasonableness checks on cashflow submissions to ensure accuracy while meeting internal deadlines.
- Act as deputy for Performance Manager when required.
- Provide line management and development support for the Year in Industry student, fostering growth and engagement.
- Promote a collaborative and positive team culture within the Performance team and across the wider SPR Control teams.
- Provide ad-hoc support to stakeholders across Control and the SP Business to deliver timely and effective solutions.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support senior management decision-making.

Minimum Criteria:
- Qualified accountant with significant PQE.
- Exceptional communicator, adept at engaging with financial and non-financial stakeholders across all organisational levels.
- Extensive knowledge of key financial processes and associated policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Pro-active and solutions oriented, anticipates issues and problems and puts into place effective strategies to resolve.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interrogate SAP and other relevant IT systems.
