During the 12 month Fixed Term Contract, the role of Senior Reporting Analyst sits within the Network Data and Intelligence function, reporting to the Performance Reporting Manager, which sits within the wider Network Planning and Regulation Department. The role is responsible for monitoring and communication of the business performance in comparison to price control settlements and internal targets. This includes the compilation of financial and regulatory information to be communicated both internally within the SPEN business and externally to Ofgem.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare reporting on the SPD, SPM and SPT Licence performance in respect of their total expenditure (Totex, Opex and Capex), as well as their key deliverables against the regulatory contract, in order to inform and support business delivery, management decision making and strategic direction.
  • Working closely with the business, communicate the overall position of each of SPD, SPM and SPT licence business against the regulatory contract, and assist the business in prioritising key areas for delivery, ensuring engineering, regulatory and financial constraints are managed and optimised.
  • Support the development of enhanced analytical capabilities, using new and advanced software solutions, to develop value add initiatives which would benefit SPEN.
  • Responsible for developing our internal processes, in conjunction with the wider business, to ensure data is captured and reported in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Provide support in preparing presentations and responses to requests for information from internal and external bodies as well as preparation of information for regulatory Price Control Reviews, supported as necessary by analysis and documentation.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and establish sound and effective working relationships with SPEN staff and management teams in all parts of the business.
  • In addition to reporting performance against our internal plans, our business performance must be reported annually to the regulator, Ofgem. This process is critical, and it is part of this role to help ensure that this is a true and accurate reflection of business delivery.
  • You will be required to provide advice and guidance to ensure that Price Review targets are understood, and that data is collected and recorded accurately throughout the year in our corporate systems.

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar business experience/qualification.
  • Understanding of the UK regulatory framework, ability to drive value/opportunities and minimise regulatory risk, including specialist knowledge relating to the regulatory mechanisms which link Totex with revenue.
  • Understanding of the methodologies of Cost assessment, and experience in the application of statistical analysis, as well as ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly for business benefit to senior management desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills, communicating objectives and delivering projects with multiple milestones.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems & challenges, involving consultation with others in the business, resolve differences and present a common agreed perspective.
