SP Energy Networks is seeking a commercially minded and analytically driven Senior Analyst to join our Commercial & Performance team. Reporting to the Process & Compliance Manager, you will lead a team of Business and Compliance Analysts and play a key role in delivering high-quality financial and performance insight that supports strategic decision-making across the business.
This role combines strong financial, commercial, and leadership responsibilities, requiring the ability to analyse complex data, challenge performance, and deliver accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with regulatory, commercial, and operational stakeholders to ensure robust financial control, performance management, and compliance with regulatory obligations.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in financial or commercial analysis within a regulated environment, together with strong accounting knowledge and the ability to produce executive-level reporting for senior leadership. You will be highly proficient in SAP, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools to create clear, meaningful business insights.

Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and develop a team of Business and Compliance Analysts, promoting high performance and continuous improvement.
- Deliver accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting, providing clear commentary on business performance against forecasts and targets.
- Analyse costs, income, and operational performance data within SAP to support effective decision-making and commercial performance.
- Apply financial and accounting principles to ensure reporting integrity, consistency, and compliance across all outputs.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
- Produce high-quality executive reporting, including Director and CEO presentation packs.
- Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, concise, and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to understand requirements and enhance reporting effectiveness.
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis and project-based support to drive business improvement initiatives.
- Support regulatory reporting obligations, including submissions to OFGEM and other regulatory bodies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, efficiency, and data quality.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed deadlines.
- Proven experience in a Financial Analyst, Commercial Analyst, or similar analytical role within a regulated or complex business environment.
- Demonstrable experience leading, developing, and motivating a team.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, management accounts, and accounting principles.
- Knowledge of financial controls, governance, and reporting integrity.
- Experience producing executive-level reports and presentations for senior leadership teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- SAP experience would be desirable.
- Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple levels of the organisation.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
