What You’ll Be Doing
In this role you’ll assist with the delivery of O&M works across several interfaces on various Scottish Power Renewables offshore projects in the UK. You will be responsible for supporting our offshore operational sites with specific technical expertise for our internal and third‑party SCADA and control systems, IT/OT networks, communications systems, SCADA and control room equipment, delivering the proactive and reactive maintenance on corporate and third‑party equipment such as network switches, firewalls, HMIs and servers. With guidance you will help deliver the company’s cyber security plan with requirements from both local regulatory and global Cyber Security initiatives. Providing advice on O&M solutions / risk levels affecting technical integrity or asset performance to the Lead O&M Engineers, Site, Department Managers or external contractors or OEMs, to ensure that cost‑effective O&M solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the risk profile can be reduced appropriately by the O&M teams. You’ll work alongside internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of O&M works within time, to budget and quality following industry best practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and the Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance. You’ll ensure that all assessment, advice and recommendations are fully documented in accordance with all internal procedures and industry best practice, and that sufficient technical and commercial due diligence (whether internal or external) exists to support those business decisions. Provide O&M input and support to the projects throughout the whole life cycle and ensure appropriate lessons learnt regarding offshore wind farm operation and Maintenance are captured.
What You’ll Bring
Our ideal candidate for this role will possess demonstrable experience in O&M delivery within the offshore or onshore wind sector with a history of managing and resolving issues on projects covering technical and operational matters. In this role there will be a requirement for travel for business meetings and project site visits, therefore flexibility and willingness to travel is essential. This could also involve travel to offshore assets, which requires a certain level of fitness supported with medical / GWO certificate according to Renewable UK (RUK) and Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standards.
Essential Skills
- Considerable experience of control systems, substation automation and SCADA.
- Ability to think logically and be able to assess the risk of carrying out any fault finding, maintenance or upgrades to any SCADA, control or network system.
- A good knowledge of control panels with electrical installation, instrumentation and network solutions.
- Knowledge in SCADA applications for power generating and distribution assets, IT/OT networks, systems, and cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with networking equipment from suppliers such as GE, ABB, Schneider, Siemens, SGRE, Cisco, Hirschmann, IBM, CheckPoint, Palo Alto would be advantageous.
- Industrial communication systems for electrical equipment / substation networks including protocols such as OPC, IEC61850‑8‑1 (MMS), IEC60870‑5‑104, MODBUS, SNMP.
- Protocols for electric equipment/ substations networks (IEC 61850).
- Competent in future planning.
- Experience of contracting, engineering support and maintenance and defining scope of works.
- Self‑motivation and willingness to learn.
- Competent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions.
- Developed report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarise key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business.
- Good organisational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to technical judgement and decision making.
- Good planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.

- Siemens WPS / Mysite360 software.
- GE DS Agile digital control system.
- Intrusion detection systems i.e. Claroty / Nozomi.
- PcVue SCADA application design and maintenance.
- Aveva PI software configuration and maintenance.
- Microsoft SQL Server configuration.
- Postgraduate experience, preferably in operation of wind farms.
- Experience in the offshore operations sector.
- Knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation associated with marine/offshore operations projects.
- Experience of using High Voltage Electrical Safety Rules (e.g. NETSO, DNO or offshore specific).
- Some track record in operation and maintenance delivery.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems i.e. ISO 9001 / ISO 55001.
