Location can be based at ScottishPower Glasgow or Prenton. Additional locations across our SPD or SPM licence areas can be considered.

Salary from £63,200. Permanent/Hybrid Working Pattern. Closing Date: 5th June 2026.

Purpose

Responsibilities

You will be joining our Distribution System Operation (DSO) Strategic Projects & Optimisations team that delivers key energy projects across SP Energy Networks, leveraging technology, novel process and markets to support our customers and stakeholders on their Net Zero journey, enabling a ‘Just Transition’ and deliver better Whole System outcomes. Working with cross functional teams across the business and the wider energy sector, you will have flexibility to thrive in a new and rapidly developing space. Being a critical part of this team, you can expect to:

  • Deliver impactful projects through project management and analysis.
  • Lead on the delivery of key projects and support their implementation across SP Energy Networks.
  • Develop solutions to meet business requirements that represent a benefit for our customers, wider society and our business.
  • Accountability for reporting requirements, generation of reports / analysis.
  • Representation on industry working groups / forums to influence the direction of key developments in the sector.
  • Support the business change programmes across SP Energy Networks for the implementation of new technical, commercial or policy approaches.
  • Inform the future development of the energy sector through Whole System solutions and energy plan development.
  • Identify new opportunities to deliver value through innovative Whole System projects.
  • Support our Strategic Optimisation team who engage with Local Authorities and Local, Regional and National Government in the development of their energy plans.
  • Provide support on embedding Whole System thinking across SP Energy Networks - including building the culture, systems, policies and processes.

What you’ll bring

  • Knowledge of energy networks is a plus but not a necessity.
  • Project Management experience with the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects and programmes of work.
  • High level business planning, financial awareness and strategic thinking.
  • Effective at leading and managing change and creating a culture of engagement and positivity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the abilities to influence and persuade effectively.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, including good listening skills, tact, diplomacy and political awareness.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail with advanced experience with the full suite of MS software including MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse and demanding workload.
