This role focuses primarily on the physical security environment and centres on the detection, analysing, and reporting on adverse conditions globally and within the UK which have the potential to affect the security, safety, finances, reputation and operational continuity and resilience of ScottishPower and its employees. These conditions include but are not limited to: political instability, disorder, crime, terrorism, hostile state actors, insider threat, supply chain disruption and cyber threats.

What you’ll be doing

  • Produce high quality, timeous intelligence and threat reports, including presenting and incorporating relevant data and visualisations for ScottishPower Corporate Security and heads of department to provide context and insightful analysis, enabling evidence-based decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain effective, efficient and comprehensive intelligence collection models across digital platforms, OSINT research and leveraging both internal and external data to enhance the quality of reports and to identify both emerging and ongoing threats and trends.
  • Engage with diverse business portfolios across the business to understand individual intelligence requirements to provide both high quality products and an accessible, taskable resource to meet business needs as they arise.
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships, protocols and communication with other intelligence functions both within ScottishPower, the wider Iberdrola group and other partners to enhance intelligence sharing and effectively combat and understand a wide range of hybrid and geopolitical threats.
  • Support the work of ScottishPower Corporate Security, to provide site specific intelligence based risk assessments, investigative support, proactive reporting, analytical physical security threat and geopolitical assessments to safeguard Scottish Power objectives, strategy, assets and staff and inform security policy.
  • Establish and maintain relations with external stakeholders, law enforcement and industry groups to maximise intelligence sharing, influence and sector awareness.

What you’ll bring

  • Ability to plan, research, and draft a range of high-quality analytical reports delivering actionable, and periodic reports and bespoke briefings.
  • Ability to write high-quality executive briefs, detailed reports, and other documents, including presenting findings to support decision-making.
  • A solid understanding of domestic and global geopolitical affairs and their potential impact on sector operations including, but not limited to, hostile state actors, cyber security, terrorism, supply chain security, travel security, business continuity, disorder and crime.
  • Ability to understand and interpret developments at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels, and analyse the impacts relevant to ScottishPower.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver solutions independently under own initiative, while also being able to work collaboratively with both the physical security team and partners to deliver holistic reporting across disciplines.
  • Previous experience with OSINT research and analysis of internal and external data to produce intelligence products.
  • Understanding of available tooling and experience of its use to enhance OSINT intelligence gathering.
  • Previous experience of investigative techniques and supporting investigations through the use of intelligence.
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality of analysis.
  • Problem-solver with excellent communication skills, with an understanding of security assessments and risk management.

Minimum Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least one of the following: University or college degree related to Geopolitics; Intelligence specialist qualification or equivalent experience (police military etc), OSINT research qualification.
  • Candidates should hold vetting to SC level or be willing to undertake and achieve vetting to this level.
