Salary from £44,000 to £55,000 + excellent benefits and Double Match Pension

Help us create a better future, quicker. As a Database Engineer you will ensure the operational integrity, reliable performance and high availability through highly accurate data architecture construction within this business critical 24/7 systems. This will include possessing a very high level of knowledge, in order to train, mentor and pass on appropriate experience to all members of the technical team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide decisions and/or arbitrates as the final level of technical responsibility.
  • Tracking and monitoring, reporting the progress and QA-ing their outputs.
  • Interface with Internal Customers (e.g. Project Managers and SAPs) in relation to all new construction & refurbishment projects and associated database activities for Transmission (SPT).
  • Liaison with SPT and the SCADA Support Engineers in relation to new construction projects and substation refurbishments on the Transmission network.
  • Interface with the Cartographer/QA to ensure seamless updating of the Master Central Systems diagrams and database.
  • Participate in end-to-end commissioning of tele-controllable plant.
  • Provide expert technical expertise to the Database team.
  • Ensure timely and successful resolution of SCADA Scan System, Database and Master System Diagram faults.
  • Support the safety culture, ensuring all legislation and company rules, policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Deliver customer service targets.
  • Oversee work and resource planning to achieve delivery of capital and revenue budgets.
  • Advise the CSS Operations Manager of any escalation issues.
  • Support the delivery of asset maintenance and replacement in line with agreed plans and budgets.

What you'll bring:

  • Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
  • Developed customer service skills.
  • Expert knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
  • Innovative in applying the latest technologies.
  • Developed negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
  • Significant experience in a senior technical role.
  • Expert technical understanding of SCADA Scan system/database applications and structures, RTU protocols and RTU hardware/software and RTS Systems applications and hardware.
