As Core Projects Planner, you will be responsible for the update and review of project plans within a portfolio for the £2.3bn Investment Plan of SP Transmission Core Projects, targeted at supporting the UK to reach Net Zero and reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing and evolving Transmission Core Project plans through the Delivery lifecycle by interfacing with relevant business experts, obtaining task details required to provide adequate project scheduling information which allows project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).
- Updating project plans at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining the relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team members.
- Producing portfolio level monthly reports based upon the most up-to-date Project Plan KPIs to inform and assist the portfolio level management decision making process, informing of project performance.
- Analysing internal departmental schedules and external contractor project plans as required, ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control and schedule targets.
- Attending internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Quality Management Systems and supporting any process improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring
- Educated to HNC level in an Engineering/Mathematical discipline or possessing previous experience within a scheduling/programming/planning projects/portfolio of works environment.
- Knowledge of scheduling using industry standard software such as Primavera and MS Project.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment, good written communication skills and experience in report writing.
- Experienced in the use of MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, Access, with an appreciation of quality assurance processes.
