Purpose
As Senior Planner within ScottishPower Energy Networks (SPEN) Transmission Core Projects, you will be at the centre of a vibrant and evolving project delivery team responsible for development and management of project schedules within a portfolio for the multi-billion-pound future investment plan. Schedules have, and will in future, be generated to support ‘once-in-a-generation’ Critical National Network Infrastructure Construction projects, reinforcing the existing Electrical Transmission Asset-base and expanding the Transmission Network to meet the future UK Network electricity demand and facilitate delivery of UK Net-Zero strategy. You will be directly responsible for the production, maintenance & update, change control, schedule risk management and reporting of high-quality Primavera P6 Schedules for over £2bn of SP Transmission Strategic Reinforcement projects.
What you'll be doing
- Responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules for SP Transmission Core Projects, resolving all project scoping and project specific issues by interfacing with members of the Project Team, ensuring all Environmental & Planning, Engineering Design and System Access requirements are taken into account whilst developing Core Project Transmission schedules.
- Interface with relevant business experts to obtain progress details required to provide adequate project scheduling updates, allowing project performance to be monitored against agreed project control measures (KPIs).
- Responsible for updating project schedules at a pre-determined frequency (usually monthly), obtaining relevant inputs through collaboration with other Project Team members, analysing internal departmental and external contractor project schedules as required, ensuring and advising the Project Team of their suitability and any actions required to meet the overall project plan control and schedule targets.
- Expected to attend internal and external meetings as required, providing planning advice, reports, KPIs and programme views to assist Project Team decision making, complying with the relevant Quality Management System, supporting any process improvement initiatives.
What you’ll bring
- Educated to HNC level in an Engineering/Mathematical discipline or with previous experience in scheduling/programming/planning projects and a portfolio of works, possessing knowledge of Engineering and/or Construction projects using Primavera P6 and MS Project planning software.
- Experienced in working with Engineering specifications and documentation, familiar with the configuration and general arrangement of electricity supply infrastructure e.g. Substations, Overhead Lines and Cables.
- Possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, experienced in report writing and use of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel and Access.
- An appreciation of quality assurance processes is beneficial.
