SP Energy Networks (SPEN) are working to achieve 2030 Transmission network targets set by the Scottish and UK Government. SPEN will invest over £5bn in Transmission projects across our Transmission network in Central and Southern Scotland by 2030. As a vital part of SPEN, you will be exposed to a wide range of new and emerging responsibilities, and at a pivotal time as ScottishPower leads the fight against climate change and strives to deliver our ambitious growth and investment plans. You can expect to be working with and learning from a broad range of stakeholders from across SPEN, the Iberdrola Group and relevant external bodies.

Reporting to the Risk Manager, you will support activities which includes risk workshops, risk register maintenance, risk reviews and reporting on risk profiles. Providing updates to the Risk Manager, you will implement best practice risk management standards and continuous improvement across assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting projects, under the direction of the Risk Manager to maintain Risk Management standards and ways of working across assigned project(s), you will work with project teams to ensure that risks are material to their respective critical objectives.
  • Supporting the Risk Manager to undertake QRAs (QSRA/QCRA) integrating results into planning and cost forecasts, you will also generate data in support of defining risk contingencies and schedules.
  • Working with the Planning and Cost teams to validate risk assessment assumptions and answer queries on risk being applied within their respective baselines, you will provide insights to risk registers, explain risk related data and offer advice on the risk management process to project teams, utilising project risk management dashboards to present risk KPIs to help projects make risk-informed critical decisions.
  • Using risk libraries to ensure projects consider common risks to their scope, you will also assist projects to onboard contractors and third parties into the Risk Management tool as required.
  • Gathering data relevant for the Risk Manager to undertake Contractor risk reporting, you will be required to support the Risk Manager in facilitating risk participation in Project Lessons Learned activities whilst also supporting the Risk Management Lead to ensure that Programme or Projects can meet external OFGEM requirements.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field (Risk Management or Project Management) or equivalent qualifications (MoR or PMI-RMP) experience, you will possess awareness of risk management within NEC3/NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) frameworks, ideally in large-scale Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • With experience in IT systems including MS Office Suite and an awareness of advanced risk management software (Safran Risk, Nodes & Links, Primavera Risk Analysis, Riskonnect/ARM or equivalent), you will be familiar in supporting Risk Managers with delivery of risk management within projects including Risk Identification and Assessment.
  • As a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will be able to engage effectively with Project stakeholders, demonstrating your ability to work independently and collaboratively with project and programme teams.
