What you’ll be doingWorking within the SPD (Distribution) directorate, you will play a key role in delivering large, civils driven electrical infrastructure projects. You will manage the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary works, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.
- Managing the programme of works across both electrical and civils contractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, safely, and within budget.
- Leading day-to-day contractor and stakeholder relationships, acting as the key interface for project delivery.
- Overseeing civils-biased elements of major distribution projects, including substations, cable routes, and enabling works.
- Developing, monitoring, and reporting on project and construction programmes.
- Ensuring projects comply with SPEN engineering, technical and safety standards, including CDM regulations.

- Supporting robust communication with landowners, local authorities, customers, and internal teams.
- Promoting exemplary safety behaviours and ensuring full compliance with legislation and SPEN safety rules.
- Driving continual improvement through analysis of project outcomes and contractor performance.
- Strong project/programme management experience — ideally gained within civils biased engineering projects, preferably on electrical networks or utilities.
- Experience coordinating internal engineering teams and external contractors.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across a busy, multi-project portfolio.
- Knowledge of construction, civils works, safety legislation, CDM regulations and associated compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to develop project plans, risk assessments and deliver against challenging timelines.
- Commercial and contract awareness with a focus on value, quality, and performance.
- HNC/D or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in the construction or delivery of electricity network or utility infrastructure projects.
- Civils experience on network-related projects (e.g., substations, cable routes, enabling works) is highly desirable.
- Computer literacy and ability to use project management and reporting tools effectively.
