In this role, you will lead the endâtoâend commercial contract cycle for multiâmillionâpound, businessâcritical agreements, from strategy and procurement through to implementation, management and renewal. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering contract strategies for the SPR UK Onshore Operational Portfolio, maximising value and mitigating commercial risk. With specialist expertise in contract management, you will identify, develop and deliver competitive tendering strategies that support the commercial and performance objectives of our UK onshore windfarm maintenance and Service & Maintenance programmes. Alongside this, you will provide strong leadership, development and line management to contract managers within the team, ensuring high performance and consistent delivery across the function.
What youâll be doing
- Working closely with Procurement and O&M teams, you will prepare detailed contract scopes for invitations to tender, ensuring SPRâs technical and commercial requirements are fully captured.
- You will collaborate with Legal and O&M management to determine the most appropriate contract forms and lead the evaluation of technical and commercial submissions, presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Your expertise will be instrumental in negotiating commercial terms that balance operational objectives, risk mitigation, and value delivery, including supporting Senior Managers on highâvalue or highâcriticality contracts.
- In this role, you will lead audits and assessments of key suppliers and contractors, informing the ongoing development of contract strategies and ensuring commercial risks are effectively managed.
- You will oversee commercial meetings with contractors, monitor claims, and maintain strong supplier relationships through detailed contract review and proactive engagement.
- Acting as a key point of contact for O&M and Commercial teams, you will provide clarity on contract timeframes, costs, payments, scope and budget implications, while also ensuring strong coordination with Procurement and Control departments to support successful business delivery.
- You will play a central role in ensuring compliance and consistency across SPRâs contract management processes, supporting the development and implementation of best practice within the ISO:9001âaccredited Integrated Management System.
- This includes ensuring system requirements are embedded in all designated contracts, acting as SAP requisitioner, and supporting internal commercial awareness training across O&M teams.
- You will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to key commercial terms, including service and maintenance price adjustments, indexation, penalties and incentives, driving accurate delivery of contractual requirements throughout the contract lifecycle.
What youâll bring

- Strong experience leading and managing highâvalue, complex engineering and maintenance contracts.
- Inâdepth knowledge of onshore wind projects, industry culture, and contractor environments (highly desirable).
- Proven ability to create, analyse and act upon detailed contract performance reports, driving continual performance improvement.
- Ability to use contract and contractor performance data to influence and develop future contract strategies.
- Solid understanding of financial, commercial, and business principles, including risk mitigation practices.
- Skilled negotiator with the ability to identify and justify optimal commercial terms.
- Strategic thinker who can balance immediate business needs with longâterm objectives.
- Strong understanding of commercial processes related to the operation and maintenance of Generation assets (renewables preferred).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and contractor obligations within complex engineering environments.
- Extensive experience with service contracts, heavy engineering, and large/complex framework agreements.
- Thorough understanding of contract implementation and management across shortâ and longâterm commercial agreements.
- Excellent selfâmanagement, with the ability to balance cost, quality, and time pressures effectively.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the commercial elements of SAP.
