Purpose
As Project Manager, you will search for, identify, evaluate and secure new development sites across the UK and ROI to grow a pipeline of onshore wind projects, allowing ScottishPower Renewables to meet its strategic growth targets. You will liaise and co-ordinate with teams of internal experts, Consultants and Land Agents and to deliver high quality professional handover dossiers to SPR’s Development Team. In addition, you will support the Head of Origination with site evaluation and commercial strategy, Agent performance reviews, process and procedural reviews, standardisation, budgeting and timely delivery of feasible projects within acceptable risk parameters. Origination is the “shop window” for Scottishpower Renewables, and we actively promote the business to demonstrate how we are the UK’s leading windfarm developer and operator.
Responsibilities
- Leading site search and feasibility work, including preparing or arranging preliminary layouts, assessments of grid, access and energy resource for all technologies, you will manage the successful negotiation, completion and management of land exclusivity agreements with landowners and their Agents.
- Managing internal reporting/auditing, including performance analysis, you will also manage internal stakeholders, including Assistant Project Manager direct report, to deliver land deals within the programme, lead in the tendering, appointment, instruction and effective management of Land Agents/Consultants through the site evaluation and feasibility processes.
- Carrying out due diligence and submission documents for tender bids, you will provide ad-hoc advice and due diligence on property matters in relation to any acquisition opportunities, exploring and maximising development opportunities on all new and existing sites.
- Ensuring all key decisions are supported by sufficient due diligence and investigation, you will take a proactive approach to Health and Safety management.
What you’ll bring
With demonstrable experience from a Renewable Energy Development, Planning, or Land Rights role, you will possess a relevant degree and/or professional qualification in Land/Property or Sustainable Development/Planning. You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in renewable energy site feasibility and development, displaying your understanding of what makes a site attractive for development, including energy yield assessment. With established negotiation skills, you will be knowledgeable and aware of renewables land agreements and contracts. You will be able to provide clear evidence of data analysis/management for reporting and auditing, an understanding of the key requirements to evaluate prospective sites and competency in stakeholder management. Familiarity and a firm base knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is an advantage preferred. Full driving Licence.
