Our mission is to deliver safe, secure and sustainable energy solutions for the communities we serve. People are at the heart of this transformation, and we’re looking for talented individuals to join us.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our SCADA & Technical Support team within SP Energy Networks’ Distribution business. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining, developing and enhancing the critical SCADA systems that allow us to monitor and operate the SPD network safely and reliably.

What you’ll be doing

As a Project Engineer in the SCADA team, you’ll play a central role in delivering major modernisation programmes across the SPD network. This is a critical role in maintaining reliable operational visibility, communication routes and overall system performance across Primary and Grid substations. You’ll work closely with the Operations Control Centre (OCC), wider engineering teams and external suppliers to ensure the effective delivery, configuration and support of the SCADA systems that keep the network running safely and efficiently.

  • Develop, maintain and support SCADA assets across the SPD network.
  • Deliver change‐process activities and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical input into SCADA specifications, particularly for RTU replacement and development.
  • Support regulatory and business‐driven objectives under RIIO.
  • Respond to SCADA faults and defects, working closely with the OCC to optimise operational performance.
  • Configure, test and commission SCADA systems, including on‐site activities.
What you’ll bring
  • HNC/D in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience within the construction and operations of electricity networks.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder‐management skills.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems on electrical power networks.
  • Good understanding of industry‐standard SCADA protocols and protocol‐emulation tools.
  • Transmission or Distribution network operational experience.
  • Ability to analyse complex engineering issues and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of network data, business systems and network‐management tools.
  • Essential: A valid UK driving licence is required, as this role involves frequent travel between sites.

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%. At ScottishPower, we believe it’s the little things we do in life that make a big difference.
