What you’ll be doing

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of overhead line (OHL) projects within SP Transmission, managing multi-disciplinary teams across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Deliver outputs, incentive metrics, and milestones in line with business targets
  • Effectively manage project risks and mitigate emerging issues
  • Ensure correct management and administration of NEC contracts
  • Develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections, maintaining full accountability for project, contractual, and financial governance
  • Create, manage, and monitor project programmes
  • Ensure system data and final asset records are entered into corporate systems in line with policy and required timescales
  • Drive continual improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned, and sharing insights across the business
  • Propose and implement improvements to project management practices and behaviours across the wider project portfolio
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, commercial awareness, and technical understanding of OHL construction in a live transmission environment

What you’ll bring

  • Significant experience managing and delivering overhead line or transmission infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding of OHL design and construction
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and procedures
  • Expertise in contract management (NEC, SPT D&C, JCT & FIDIC)
  • Experience in financial control, forecasting, and project governance
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and health, safety, and environmental legislation (especially CDM)
  • Ability to manage risk and develop solutions to complex engineering challenges
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Full UK driving licence
