What you'll be doing:

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing HVDC Operations & Maintenance team, driving a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and specialist expertise across existing and future HVDC assets.
  • Oversee the safe operation, inspection and maintenance of HVDC converter stations and associated plant in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development, construction, commissioning and ongoing operation of new HVDC projects and interconnections.
  • Manage HVDC-related contracts, marine interfaces and stakeholder relationships to ensure effective delivery and value for money.
  • Coordinate outage planning and resource deployment to optimise network performance and asset availability.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, joint venture partners and external stakeholders.
  • Drive operational excellence through performance monitoring, cost control and effective asset management.
  • Support trainee development and contribute to wider Transmission Operations objectives and regulatory commitments.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong knowledge of transmission operations, maintenance practices and HVDC systems.
  • Experience with Protection & Control systems and transmission plant standards.
  • Sound understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
  • Ability to manage complex technical challenges and deliver practical solutions.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing contracts and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of SAP and asset management systems.
  • Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Senior Authorised Person status at transmission voltages (or equivalent experience).

Minimum Criteria:

  • Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant post-qualification experience within a power, utilities or transmission environment.
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining high-voltage transmission assets.
  • Demonstrable experience working with HVDC systems and technologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and asset management systems such as SAP.
