What you’ll be doing:
- The Regional Planning Lead oversees regional project planning, ensuring effective scheduling, resource optimisation and compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
- You’ll lead a team of Planners, deliver best‑practice project controls, and drive improvements to planning processes, systems and tools.
- The role also supports continuous improvement and skills development aligned with major business priorities including the RIIO Business Plan, Clean Power 2030 and the SPT Digital Strategy.
- Leading and developing a team of Senior Project Planners/Project Planners, ensuring accurate progress reporting and forecasting.
- Delivering all regional planning outputs required for SPT business plan reporting, including volumes, assets and resource modelling.
- Working closely with Regional Project Management Leads to manage baselines, milestones and project performance.
- Attending project meetings, contractor sessions and site visits to understand scope, progress and reporting needs.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships across PMO, design, construction, quality, environment and control teams to ensure programmes are maintained and continuously improved.
- Overseeing delivery and compliance with quality planning processes and documentation.
- Supporting the development and implementation of resource‑loaded programmes with key stakeholders.
- Driving continuous improvement through planning reviews and lessons learned to enhance project delivery standards.
What you’ll bring:
- A relevant engineering or planning degree, or equivalent experience
- Experience programming electrical infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and reporting skills
- Understanding of project risk management and controls
- Awareness of procurement processes
- Knowledge of NEC, SPT D&C and FIDIC contract frameworks
- Extensive P6/MSP experience
- Ability to implement quality assurance processes
- Awareness of HSE requirements for construction projects, including CDM
- Team leadership and development skills
