Purpose
As Technical Lead, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance and oversight across the design, development and delivery of real-time systems solutions to ensure technical standards, architecture principles and best practices are consistently applied to meet project objectives and operational requirements. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Developers, Testers and stakeholders to drive innovation, resolve complex technical challenges and ensure the successful execution of Control System Solutions projects. By fostering a high-performance engineering culture, you will play a critical role in delivering robust, scalable and mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
Providing technical leadership and oversight across all phases of Control System Solutions project delivery, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable and aligned with architectural standards, you will coordinate and mentor development teams, promoting best practices in coding, design and system integration while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborating with Project Managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensure timely, high-quality delivery of Control System Solutions, you will own the resolution of complex technical issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions to maintain system reliability and performance. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal governance, including security, data integrity and operational resilience within Control System Solutions environments, you will contribute to strategic planning and technology roadmaps, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in real-time systems architecture and delivery. Flexibility to travel within the UK and internationally as required with a flexible approach to working hours is required.
What you'll bring
Educated to Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience), you will possess significant hands-on experience in designing, developing and delivering real-time systems, with a proven track record in technical leadership roles. With strong proficiency in relevant programming languages and technologies used in Control System Solutions environments (e.g. C++, Java, Python, real-time operating systems), you will have a strong ability to manage own performance with focus on delivery, within a varied and challenging workload whilst producing high quality results. Utilising your good understanding of Health and Safety principles and their application in the delivery of large-scale projects, you will also have a proven track-record of successfully delivering complex multi-discipline projects with a history of contract negotiation and contract management. Possessing or having the ability to obtain and retain a Security Cleared status under the UK National Security Vetting scheme, you will also possess or have the ability to obtain and retain business Specific Authorisations including, but not limited to Substation access.
