The UK Government has mandated targets for the rollout of Smart Meters up to the end of 2025. This is one of the largest and most complex gas and electricity deployments in the world and presents unique challenges to the UK deployment of over 50m meters. Field Services provides installation and maintenance services through its Meter Operators for all Energy Retail customers, with c5m meters in the portfolio.

The Regional Lead will work as part of a team with the Smart Meter Operator Partners to optimise performance and resolve issues within their regional zone, which may impact the likelihood of achieving regulatory targets.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the Smart Meter Operator Partners in all areas of performance with a view to meeting agreed targets. A close working relationship is required with the Smart Meter Operator Partners and working on their premises will sometimes be required.
  • Drive industry leading performance from our Meter Operator Partners, through assimilating wider plans into successful delivery in your region, analysis of their operations and close management of KPIs, with particular focus on:
  • Aborted jobs
  • Appointment generation
  • Engineer efficiency
  • Stock control
  • Health & safety
  • Guaranteed standard failures
  • Customer complaints
  • Monitoring and reporting of various performance metrics within your region, to identify trends and issues.
  • Discussion and management of KPIs through the Smart Field Services governance meeting structure.
  • Identify issues impacting performance in your region, and where appropriate create improvement plans with internal stakeholders and the meter operators, and monitor subsequent progress.
  • Developing new operational measures as appropriate, working alongside the Operational Planning Team.
  • Be an escalation point between the business and the Smart Meter Operator Partners for any issues such as customer complaints.
  • Provide analysis and performance data to regularly benchmark regional performance with your peers.
  • Work with the metering operator partners and managers across Energy Retail to develop and improve the services provided.
  • Fully engage internal and external stakeholders to ensure service levels meet requirements.
  • What you’ll bring:

    • Creating and delivering plans, to meet and exceed performance measures and business objectives.
    • Good knowledge of Energy Retail value chain to identify and anticipate issues for the wider business from any metering related activity. In addition, have the business network to work with the wider business on any issues.
    • An ability to retrieve and collate data from various sources and provide meaningful reports.
    • Be able to build sound working relationships with all internal customers and develop strong commercial relationships with external parties.
    • Design, implement and maintain reports.
