You will provide professional employee relations advice and case management support across ScottishPower UK businesses, helping managers apply people policies fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and best practice.
The role involves managing a wide range of employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinary matters, attendance management, performance improvement, and appeals, ensuring each case is handled with appropriate judgement, procedural fairness and clear risk assessment. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, guiding them through sensitive and complex people issues and supporting early resolution wherever possible to minimise escalation and risk.
The role requires close collaboration with People colleagues, internal specialist teams such as Legal and Occupational Health, and external bodies including Trade Unions, ACAS and employment lawyers where required. You will also contribute to continuous improvement within the People Relations & Case Management service by analysing case trends, sharing insight with stakeholders, supporting policy reviews and delivering training or coaching to managers. Maintaining accurate, confidential case records and providing clear insight to People leadership will be a key part of the role.
You will bring extensive knowledge of UK employment legislation, case law and HR best practice, with proven experience applying this in a complex, commercially driven environment. Experience in employee relations or HR advisory work is essential, ideally within a unionised or collectively bargained setting, alongside strong consulting and diagnostic skills. You will be confident advising managers on sensitive and high-risk matters, with excellent communication and influencing skills.
The ability to assess risk, exercise sound professional judgement and know when to escalate or seek specialist legal advice is critical. CIPD qualification or equivalent ER or case management experience is preferred.
