  • Engage with Stakeholders: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders (Customer Services, Complaints, Telephony, and Digital teams) to uncover automation opportunities through structured workshops and discussions.
  • End‑to‑End Delivery: Own the end‑to‑end delivery of innovation experiments, moving quickly from initial requirement shaping and solution design through development oversight, testing, and pilot deployment.
  • Optimise Customer Journeys: Leverage AI tools alongside customer and operational data to analyse friction points, reduce contact drivers, and improve overall business outcomes.
  • Process Engineering: Define and deliver process improvements, intelligent automations, and workflow enhancements across our integrated customer and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate and Scale: Work closely across Product, Engineering, and Business teams to ensure successful innovation pills are built to be scalable, secure, and aligned with overarching corporate architectures.
  • Governance & Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement, code quality, and ethical governance standards around AI usage within the delivery lifecycle.

What you’ll bring:

  • Education: Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical field of study.
  • Solution Architecture: Proven ability to design agile, end‑to‑end solutions involving multiple technologies and modern cloud ecosystems.
  • Agile Expertise: Extensive experience working in SCRUM/Agile delivery frameworks.
  • AI Integration & Prompts: Demonstrated experience in identifying and scaling generative AI use cases, deploying advanced prompt design patterns, and integrating LLM/AI capabilities into business applications.
  • Technical Toolset: Experience with standard modern backend/frontend technologies, API technology, and API service design and optimisation.
  • Cloud Ecosystems: Strong knowledge of Cloud Architectures and AWS technologies.
  • Domain Context: Knowledge and understanding of the UK Energy Retail Market or utilities sector (including SMART metering technologies) is highly advantageous.
  • Mindset: A proactive innovation mindset with a strong drive to challenge existing legacy processes, understand complex business problems, and quickly deliver improvements.
  • Communication: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical AI solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Extensive experience leading the delivery of software development projects or rapid prototyping cycles.
  • Hands‑on experience leveraging modern AI developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Kiro, or similar automation frameworks) to accelerate development lifecycles.
  • Experience in defining and delivering AI‑driven use cases, including advanced prompt engineering, automation scenarios, and intelligent workflow optimisation.
  • Experience in designing and integrating API‑based architectures and backend enterprise systems.
  • Strong analytic, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management skills.

How to prepare for a job interview at Iberdrola Renewables

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
