Purpose

With plans to invest over £10bn in Transmission projects across our Transmission network in Central and Southern Scotland by 2030, the Transmission team will play key roles to deliver the Transmission network required to support Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a multi‑discipline drawing office, providing solutions to support SP Energy Networks engineering for Transmission Network Projects (132kV and above), Transmission, Distribution, Operational Safety and Distribution Projects (LV to 33kV).
  • Ensure all team members perform duties with strong emphasis on Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental compliance, and promote the use of drawing standards and procedures to maintain externally audited QA systems.
  • Maintain and update drawing office databases; ensure an auditable design/design change system to support BS EN 9001 accreditation; communicate and promote drawing standards and procedures.
  • Align the drawing office with externally audited QA systems; support training needs assessments for new or similar products; contribute to development and delivery of technical, operational and safety documentation.
  • Coordinate across multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to provide end‑to‑end integrated solutions; manage IT requirements for the drawing office and wider engineering team; input into Engineering KPIs to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Engage with BIM implementation; ensure drawing office staff are trained and understand new technologies.
  • Establish and maintain sources of talent for the drawing office; support BIM tool development within the Engineering department; administer Autodesk licences and manage hardware for the Engineering team.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements: Engineering degree or equivalent experience; proven working knowledge of Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction tools (including Revit, BIM360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault, ProjectWise, and MS Office); working knowledge of Engineering design and Health & Safety requirements and compliance in the relevant field (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil/Structural model or Drawing production).

Knowledge of BIM; ability to write clear reports and documents on technical subjects; people management experience; hold a full UK driving licence.
