This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the Data Transformation within SPEN’s newly established Network Data and Intelligence function. You will recognise the vital role data plays in the energy sector and collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Financial, and Customer Service departments to support data management, exploitation, and improvement. You will lead a team of Data Governance analysts to develop and implement the Data Governance framework, deploy our Data Governance tool, and work with organisational leads to identify, catalogue, and improve data access. Collaboration with the Data architecture team will be essential to ensure system infrastructure supports business needs. Additionally, you will assess data quality using our governance tool and lead initiatives to enhance data quality, preparing data for AI deployment and ensuring a solid foundation of high-quality data for accurate AI usage. Working closely with leaders across the organisation, you will identify, catalogue, and interrogate data assets, establish data quality standards, and drive continuous improvement. This includes developing executive insights to understand data quality and usage across the organisation. Furthermore, you will develop Data Governance policies and procedures with Subject Matter Experts, enabling SP Energy Networks to operate as a data-driven organisation that ensures data security, interoperability, and accountability.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and manage a team to develop, establish, communicate, enable, and achieve SPEN data governance requirements.
- Collaborate with business leads to deploy our Data Governance tool, cataloguing critical data for decision-making and operations.
- Develop an understanding of organisational data and set quality standards to improve datasets across engineering, network, planning, financial, and customer domains.
- Create metrics to measure data quality and complexity, providing insights for leadership.
- Identify and investigate data quality issues, developing improvement plans.
- Manage the SPEN Data Governance Forum, ensuring clear authority, representation, and accountability.
- Develop and embed Data Governance policies, processes, and compliance standards, reporting on adherence.
- Promote a culture of industry-leading data management, analysis, and sharing practices to drive business value.
- Establish effective relationships with stakeholders and management across the organisation.
- Participate in Industry Working Groups on Data Governance to align with industry developments.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience in data governance, management, or quality roles.
- Strong knowledge of Data Governance principles and best practices; experience with data catalogues is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
