Purpose

Leading on landowner negotiations in new joint venture opportunities for the ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) Onshore team, you will work closely with internal stakeholders including Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, Compliance and Control to negotiate complex landowner contracts and propose commercial solutions, supporting the SPR team through contract negotiation, contract completion and approvals. Demonstrating an understanding of Joint Venture agreements, supporting projects in ensuring all governance arrangements are complied with, preparing required information to shareholders which ensures project companies are able to operate efficiently to maximise value, you will work with internal departments in the development of governance arrangements, managing approval processes (including funding requests for projects) and ongoing management of information including facilitating meetings, taking responsibility for Joint Venture contract management on an ongoing basis for all live development, construction and operational Joint Ventures.

Supporting the business on securing a route to market for onshore renewable assets, with a focus on Contracts For Difference (CFD) auctions including qualifying eligible sites, preparing a commercial bid strategy for senior management, carrying out market analysis and participating in the auction, you will lead on PPAs in the UK and Ireland for the onshore business which includes third party PPAs for Joint Venture (JV) assets, those under the existing agreements and any other offtake contracts required in relation to the CFD or any other structure. Supporting the analysis of acquisition and divestment opportunities in relation to SPR onshore, collating market data and competitor intelligence, supporting Corporate Development through due diligence, contract negotiation and approvals for the SPR onshore team whilst leading commercial contracts for SPR, including JV agreements and any other adhoc agreements. Leading the administration and bidding of SPR assets in the Capacity Market, in both the UK and Ireland, develop new and diversified revenue streams for renewable assets through ancillary services which can vary across different sites and technologies. Reporting within the Business Development team, including management reports and preparing budgets and forecasts which includes competitor analysis and keeping up to date with industry trends. You will maintain a thorough understanding of the physical delivery capabilities, supply demand balances with a detailed understanding of transmission tariffs, operating procedures and physical capabilities.

Responsibilities

Leading on landowner negotiations in respect of Joint Venture agreements and ensuring all governance arrangements are complied with, you will support (in association with Corporate Development) the SPR team through all aspects of sales processes, including due diligence, contract negotiation, completion and approvals. Identifying business opportunities and services for new and existing assets through liaison with Global Energy Management in relation to various renewable technologies. Collaborating with policy / regulatory functions to identify and develop new sources of revenue, working with Global Energy Market (GEM) to craft value propositions to optimise operational and development assets, you will liaise with GEM, assisting with analysis, development and presentation of proposals for auctions and bids in relation to ancillary services, including other revenue markets for SPR’s assets and participation in the Capacity Market. Assessing and translating market competition, industry trends, emerging regulatory challenges and changes in the marketplace into strategies, you will be the internal and external expert on all issues impacting operational and development assets in relation to energy markets, ancillary services and flexibility opportunities. Supporting the business on securing a route to market for onshore renewable assets with a focus on CFD auctions, liaising with Energy Retail and GEM departments to facilitate a route to market for SPR assets in terms of PPAs, you will assist with the presentation and approval of new revenues / ancillary services and ultimately contracts as part of the Investment Dossier process to support new build assets.

Educated to degree level in relevant field (Business, Accountancy, Economics, Finance), you will possess exceptional Financial / Analytical skill and commercial acumen. Experienced in analysis of complex issues, identifying solutions in relation to business opportunities, you will possess an understanding of economic fundamentals, energy markets and renewable generation. With your appreciation of commercial agreements and negotiations, you will be highly IT literate with the ability to operate MS office systems. Excellent communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to speak confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels is required.
